Lord Buddha beheaded, burned, looted

 

The remaining of burned, razed and destroyed idols of Lord Buddha in Coxs’ Bazaar’s Ramu Upazilla after the attack on September 30, 2012 by religious fanatics which was triggered by a Facebook posting allegedly defaming the Holy Quran. The assailants set fire to at least seven Buddhist temples and looted valuable idols and manuscripts. In these destroyed temples, Shima Bihar is included which was established in 1706. Other two temples ‘Saada Ching’ and ‘Lal Ching’ were also burned to ground with Shima Bihar. Saada Ching, Lal Ching, Ramu Moitree Bihar, Sina Bihar, Jadipara Bouddha Bihar, Bimukti Bidarshan Bhabna Centre and Mithhachhari Banbihar all these temples were torched ransacked and looted. Around 30 residences were also set alight in these areas. Several Facebook users said that Uttam Barua who was accused to Quran defamation, did not post the photo by himself. This attack is considered to be one of the worst religious attacks in Bangladesh so far which was started at around 11:30pm Saturday and ended around 4:00am on Sunday.
